House of Seafood Ala-Carte Menu Food Review at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre

I'm back to House of Seafood at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre last weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday!
I was so excited about yet another trip to House of Seafood but it turns out quite bad for us as there was a change of chef. I tried other dishes this time round but some of the dishes turned out to be too salty for our liking, as compared to our first visit here. 

The waitress even asked us if the food were okay as she said that the Kang Kong Vegetables does not look like it was cooked well. True enough, the Kang Kong was very salty but she was kind enough to ask the chef to cook once more, albeit at a smaller quantity from when they took it away :X

Deep-fried stuffed dough with cuttlefish paste- the dough and cuttlefish were too tough

Shrimp Paste Chicken -  was very bland and I think they forgot to add some ingredients :X

KFC Umakara Chicken - A Taste Beyond Words Food Review

KFC Singapore releases its first ever Umakara Chicken and Shrooms Poppers on 13th July and I have been wanting to head over for a first-hand experience! KFC was filled with this aroma Umami spice when I first entered and I knew instantly that it would be a ‘WOW’ for me! My girlfriend and I have to wait a whole 20 minutes for the Umakara Chicken and the smell of the spice in KFC was making us two hungry girls. BUT the wait was worthwhile!

The word ‘Umakara’ is derived from the words ‘Umami’ and ‘Karai’. Umami means ‘Savory’ which is one of the five basic tastes (together with Sweetness, Bitterness, Sourness and Saltiness). This combination of words was chosen by Japanese chemist Kikunae Ikeda from Umai (うまい) "delicious" and Mi (味) "taste". Karai means ‘Spicy or Hot’. ,Together, we coined it as Savory Spicy Hot Delicious KFC Chicken!

House of Seafood Ala Carte Menu Food Review at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre

Wondering where to go on Eve of a Public Holiday?
I was scrolling through Groupon for some last minute deals and I find myself heading over to House of Seafood at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre once more. My family and I had Ala-Carte dishes instead of the previous Korean Seafood Tower we had in my previous post.

It was a really awesome deal though- fancy paying $99 for $200 worth of vouchers where GST and service charge are both included! We saw that Groupon has this Welcome deal where they deduct $10 off your bill if you're a new user and we cheated by creating a new account. All in all, it is just $89 for $200 worth of Vouchers!

I have to admit that the building looks run-down but definitely not for the food. The food are up to restaurant standard and the portions are very generous. Of course, it would be worth it only if there is 50% off for the Vouchers. Trust me, the food were really awesome that I am thinking of bringing my family down for another trip!
